Pentecost
is
Coming!
Are You
Drinking
From
Living
Water?
OR
Are
You
Running
On
Empty?
In
Exodus
17, the
Israelites,
tired,
thirsty,
and
frustrated
quarreled
with
Moses as
they
wandered
through
the
desert.
They
were
dehydrated,
physically
and
spiritually.
God’s
response?
Grace.
He told
Moses to
strike
the
rock,
and
water
flowed
out.
That
moment
revealed
God’s
love,
provision,
and
power.
There is
something
deeply
refreshing
about
drinking
from a
cool,
clear
mountain
spring.
It is no
surprise
that a
natural
spring
can even
boost
the
value of
a
property!
From
Genesis
2:10,
where a
river
flowed
out of
Eden, to
Revelation
21:6,
where
God
offers
the
water of
life
freely,
Scripture
often
uses
water to
symbolize
God’s
sustaining
presence.
I
imagine
the
water
from the
rock in
the
desert
being
just
like
that
mountain
spring;
pure,
abundant,
and
life-giving.
This act
was not
just
about
meeting
a need,
it was a
display
of God's
overwhelming
love and
care.
God
met
their
need
Not
just to
survive
But
to
understand
His care
It
is done.
I am the
Alpha
and the
Omega,
the
Beginning
and the
End. To
the
thirsty
I will
give
water
without
cost
from the
spring
of the
water of
life.
Revelation
21:6
Psalm 1
and
Jeremiah
17 both
compare
a person
who
trusts
in the
Lord to
a tree
planted
by
water.
It does
not fear
when
heat
comes;
its
leaves
are
always
green.
It has
no
worries
in a
year of
drought
and
never
fails to
bear
fruit.
(Jeremiah
17:8)
But God
also
warns
us: My
people
have
committed
two
sins:
They
have
forsaken
Me, the
spring
of
living
water,
and have
dug
their
own
cisterns—broken
cisterns
that
cannot
hold
water.
(Jeremiah
2:13)
We
all do
this
sometimes.
We seek
life,
fulfillment,
and
peace in
things
that
ultimately
leave us
dry. But
here is
the good
news:
God
invites
us back
… again
and
again.
He
invites
us to
return,
to drink
deeply,
and be
filled
afresh.
Lord,
thank
You for
being
our
source
of
living
water.
Help us
drink
deeply
from You
and know
Your
great
love.
Jesus
extended
the same
invitation:
‘Let
anyone
who is
thirsty
come to
Me and
drink.
Whoever
believes
in Me,
as
Scripture
has
said,
rivers
of
living
water
will
flow
from
within
them.’
By this
He meant
the
Spirit…
(John
7:37-39)
This is
not
stale or
stagnant
water.
It is
vibrant,
living,
Spirit-filled
refreshment
for our
soul.
God does
not just
give us
a sip;
He pours
Himself
into us.
He
makes
springs
pour
water
into the
ravines…
He
waters
the
mountains…
the land
is
satisfied
by the
fruit of
His
work.
(Psalm
104:10–13)
Have
you ever
been
truly
dehydrated,
not just
a little
thirsty,
but
desperate
for
water?
In that
moment,
water
becomes
precious.
When I
forget
my water
bottle
and go
too long
without
it, I
feel it,
physically
and
mentally.
It
changes
everything.
Our
spiritual
thirst
is just
as real.
If we
fail to
drink
from The
Living
Water,
His
Spirit,
we
become
anxious,
impatient,
and worn
out. But
when we
take a
big
drink,
His
living
water
flows
into
every
dry and
weary
place.
Like a
mountain
spring,
God’s
presence
is pure,
refreshing,
and full
of life.
So,
pause.
Take a
drink.
Let Holy
Spirit
refresh
your
soul.
Take a
moment,
right
now, and
drink in
God’s
presence.
May the
power of
the
Spirit
burn
within
us like
a fire
that
cannot
be
contained!
Be
filled.
Be
restored.
Be
satisfied!
Victorious,
Only by
His
Grace,
Billie
Lord,
thank
You for
being my
source
of
Living
Water.
Forgive
me when
I chase
after
things
that do
not
truly
satisfy.
Refresh
me today
by Your
Word and
Your
Spirit.
Let Your
life
flow
through
me,
quenching
every
dry and
weary
place
within.
In the
Life-Giving
Name of
Jesus
Christ,
AMEN!
